Electrical - Pneumatic - Hydraulic Actuation
There are many type of electrical actuators, rotary, linear, multi-turn and quarter turn operation, they are all designed to provide mechanical motion. Many applications require varying voltages, stroke values, torque values and feedback communications for complete control or isolation purposes.
At TVL, we have a clear understanding of all actuated requirements and can help you size the correct actuator for your application.

PNEUMATICS
Air operated pneumatic actuators are available in all shapes and sizes, from piston, diaphragm, rack and pinion and vane type cylinders. It is important to understand the necessity to correctly size a pneumatic actuator to ensure trouble free service and maximum longevity of the valve it serves. Pneumatic cylinders are also available in what the industry recognises as fail conditions for example, air fail close, air fail open and double acting. Pneumatic cylinders are primarily used for linear travel however, rack and pinion and vane cylinders rely on rotary motion. As specialists in the myriad of options available today, TVL can help you with sizing and selection.
HYDRAULIC FLUID POWER
Hydraulic actuators are robust and best suited for high force applications. They can produce forces 25 times greater than pneumatic cylinders of equal size, operating in pressures of up to 4,000 psi. Using hydraulic fluid, the cylinder can hold force and torque constant without the pump supplying more fluid or pressure due to the in-compressibility of fluids.
Conveniently, hydraulic actuators can have their pumps and motors (power packs) located a considerable distances away with minimal loss of power.
